Biography

He is the Director of the Institute of Television and Image Information, Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. He is currently leading a research team with 4 professors (Yuting SuLanjun Wang...), 8 associate professors ( Jing Zhang, Weizhi Nie, Jing Liu, Dan Song, Ning Xu...), 2 assistant professors (Wenhui Li...), 10+ Ph.D. students, 90+ master students.

He has reached impressive achievements for multimedia content analysis, retreival, generation and communication with continuous contributions to cross-media representation learning and understanding, human action recognition, 3D model retrieval and classification, social network analysis, bio-medical image analysis, marine big data analysis by developing algorithms, building new datasets, organizing contests, and build benchmarks. He has published 100+ papers in the first-tier venues. He holds 40+ Chinese and U.S. patents. Many novel techniques have been widely utilized for multimodal big data analysis for social network, smart city, and maritime space.
